How to Make an Information Rights Request

You can make an Information Rights request, which includes asking what data North Yorkshire Police hold on you, in the following ways:

Right of Access:

  • Online by following this link.
  • In writing: Civil Disclosure Unit, North Yorkshire Police HQ, Alverton Court, Crosby Road, Northallerton, North Yorkshire, DL6 1BF
  • By telephone: Dial 101, option 2 and ask for Civil Disclosure Unit

Right to Rectification and Right of Erasure:

  • Online by clicking here.
  • By completing the ‘Right to Rectification and Erasure Request’ form at the bottom of this page and returning it by email or in writing:

    • In writing: Records Management, Information Management, North Yorkshire Police HQ, Alverton Court, Crosby Road, Northallerton, North Yorkshire, DL6 1BF
  • By telephone: Dial 101, option 2 and ask for Records Management

Right to Restrict or Object to Processing, Rights Related to Automated Decision Making, Restrictions to Information Rights:

Right to Complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office:

  • Should you wish to raise a concern or have cause to complain to the Information Commissioner, you may do so in the following ways:

Fee

From 25 May 2018 all Information Rights requests will be free of charge, unless they are considered and manifestly unfounded or excessive, please see the Information Rights link for more information. We will write to you and advise you if this is the case.

Proof of Identity

We may require you to prove your identity before we commence your Information Rights request. It may save time if you provided identity documents in with your request, if not we will write to you and advise you if this is the case.
