Investigating Procedure (Local Policing)

This procedure sets out to define how crimes will be investigated along with team and individual responsibilities in particular:

  1. alignment of the most appropriate resource to the right investigation given the investigative complexity (PIP 1 or PIP2) and ‘THRIVE’ considerations
  2. process by which crimes can be allocated across the CID, Investigation Hubs, Response, Safer Neighbourhood and the Service Desk
  3. assurance investigations which are allocated for investigation are conducted so that ‘reasonable’ lines of enquiry are pursued in accordance with the Criminal Procedure and Investigations Act 1996, PACE and in line with published investigative doctrine
  4. roles and responsibilities of those parties involved within the process
  5. That investigations must consider opportunities for intervention and prevention to reduce future crime, e.g. by submission of appropriate referrals
  6. That all investigations embrace the priorities of Caring about the vulnerable Ambitious collaboration Reinforce the front lime Enhance customer experience principals so that victims have the best possible service regardless of outcome type
