Q1. I would like to submit a Freedom of Information Request to find out the amount of the below listed crimes which have been committed in the past 2 years per city/town or region (whichever is possible).

I would also like to know if these were carried out against a business or general member of the public (if possible).Please find the list of terms that I would like the search to be carried out for below.

To locate the information relevant to your request searches were conducted within North Yorkshire Police.

I have today decided to disclose the following information to you.

Q1. Please see the table below showing the number of crimes recorded between 01 January 2024 and 31 December 2025 where the following terms are recorded within the MO remarks ‘Phishing’, ‘scam call’, ‘phone scam’, ‘scam email’, ‘email scam’, ‘phishing attack’, broken down by Safer Neighbourhood Command (SNC).

*Please note all the relevant crimes within that period were against persons, none against businesses.

Please note that systems used for recording information are not generic, nor are the procedures used locally in capturing the data.  It should be noted therefore that this force’s response to your questions should not be used for comparison purposes with any other responses you may receive.
