Request
Under the Freedom of Information Act 2000, I am requesting a copy of documents related to specific training for your 999 emergency call operators.
Specifically, I request the following:
Q1. A copy of the current training guides, manuals, or any other instructional materials provided to your 999 emergency call handlers concerning the use of Emergency Location Services (ELS), which may also be referred to as Advanced Mobile Location (AML).
Q2. This request includes any documentation that details the process for call handlers to access, interpret, and utilise the automated GPS location data that is sent from mobile phones making a 999 call.
Response
Extent and Result of Searches to Locate Information
To locate the information relevant to your request searches were conducted within North Yorkshire Police.
Decision
I have today decided to disclose the following information to you.
Our calls are currently supported by BT using a system called EISEC which allows us to locate where a caller is calling from, however we cannot continue to track the callers location once the call has been terminated.
Please note that systems used for recording information are not generic, nor are the procedures used locally in capturing the data. It should be noted therefore that this force’s response to your questions should not be used for comparison purposes with any other responses you may receive.
