FOI 1305-2025/26- Fraud crimes

Request:

Q1. Please provide the number of reports recorded during the financial year 2024/2025 that were classified under the following offence codes or any equivalent categorisation used by North Yorkshire Police:

053/04 – Conspiracy to defraud (cheque/credit card)

053/40 – Fraud by false representation (cheque/credit card).

Q2. Please also provide the total reported financial losses associated with these offences during the same period.

Extent and Result of Searches to Locate Information

To locate the information relevant to your request searches were conducted within North Yorkshire Police.

I can confirm that the information you have requested is held by North Yorkshire Police. 

Decision

I have today decided to disclose the following information to you.

A search has been carried out on crimes recorded in the financial year 2024/2025 with the HO codes 53/40 and 53/4, to which there were no results.

Please note that systems used for recording information are not generic, nor are the procedures used locally in capturing the data.  It should be noted therefore that this force’s response to your questions should not be used for comparison purposes with any other responses you may receive.
