Please may I be provided with the following data regarding retail crime in York. Specifically, I am interested in:

Q1. The total number of shoplifting offences reported in York for the following years: 2021, 2022, 2023, 2024 and 2025.

Q2. The total number of arrests for shoplifting offences in York for the following years: 2021, 2022, 2023, 2024 and 2025.

Q3. The total number of charges brought for shoplifting offences in York for the following years: 2021, 2022, 2023, 2024 and 2025.

Q4. The total number of police attendance to shoplifting crimes in York for the following years: 2021, 2022, 2023, 2024 and 2025.

Q2. Please see the table below the number of arrests for shoplifting recorded between 01 January 2021 and 31 December 2025 where the safer neighbourhood command (SNC) is York, broken down by calendar year.

*Please note the SNC is based on the occurrence address from the occurrence linked to the custody record. 

Q3.  Please see the table below the number of arrests where the person has been charged with shoplifting between 01 January 2021 and 31 December 2025 where the safer neighbourhood command (SNC) is York, broken down by calendar year.

For the purposes of reporting, attendance is taken as when an officer is needed to attend in a timely response, it will exclude any appointments made in the future where an officer may need to attend to take statements or CCTV collection.
