How to get involved

Beat Surgeries

We advertise regular beat surgeries and drop-ins via social media, word of mouth and posters which are usually held in local community halls, banks and mobile police stations. We find that our surgeries provide the public with the chance to speak with their local Police Community Support Officer (PCSO) face to face about any issues or concerns they may have and to listen to what is being done to keep the community safe. We also attend council liaison meetings for parishes.

Community Messaging

North Yorkshire Community Messaging is a free messaging system for North Yorkshire that allows you to register to receive the latest crime notifications and community news happening in your local neighbourhood. The service has been designed to allow people who live in North Yorkshire to get information when they want, and how they want it. There is the ability to tailor your preferences for the type of messages you want and for what locations. It provides information on:

  • Crime and other police incidents, including missing people and witness appeals.
  • Rural policing, including crimes against farms and rural businesses.
  • Anti-social behaviour.
  • Road safety, including road closures and traffic updates.
  • Neighbourhood news and events, such as invitations to public meetings.

To receive messages about the Northallerton and Bedale area please register to community messaging.

We also have dedicated social media accounts on Twitter and Facebook which allow us to interact with our community on a real time basis but also receive communication in return.
