Skipton Town

Skipton is a busy market town, with a 900-year-old castle overlooking the high street.

With a population of around 15,000, it is one of the hubs of Craven.

Craven is the most westerly in North Yorkshire, spread across 117,876 hectares (15% of North Yorkshire or 450 square miles). It extends from a boundary with West Yorkshire to the southeast, Lancashire to the west, and Cumbria to the northwest.

The area has a population of 56,000, giving it a population density of just over 44 people per square kilometre – among the top ten least densely-populated areas in England.
