Appeal after man assaulted in attempted robbery by occupants of Mercedes-Benz

North Yorkshire Police is appealing for information after a man was assaulted in an attempted robbery in Barton.

It happened at around 4am this morning (Monday 9 March) when the victim noticed what is described as a dark-coloured Mercedes-Benz acting suspiciously on Marygate in the village.

The four male occupants exited the Mercedes-Benz and began to punch and kick the victim in an attempt to get his phone before leaving the scene in the same vehicle without the phone.

The man who was attacked did not sustain any injuries.

Officers are appealing to anyone with information that could assist the investigation to contact North Yorkshire Police on 101.

In particular, they would like to hear from anyone who witnessed the incident or has CCTV or dash-cam footage which may have captured anything.
