Appeal after woman, 60, suffers serious facial injuries York assault

North Yorkshire Police is appealing for witnesses and information after a woman was pushed to the ground in York.

It happened on Micklegate at just after 8pm on 31 August when a 60-year-old woman was stood waiting for a taxi in the alley way between Pizza Plus and David Wilson Hairdressing Salon. She was pushed from behind whilst waiting for the taxi by an unknown person.

The victim was taken to York District Hospital by ambulance. Once at hospital it was discovered she had sustained a fractured cheek bone and also a broken nose. She underwent surgery to these injuries.

Officers are appealing to  anyone who may have witnessed the incident or could help identify the suspect.

At present the description known of the suspect is a white male, mid-20s, tall in height, slim build and was wearing black jogging bottoms.
