*****UPDATE******Appeal after cyclist seriously injured in Thornton-le-Street collision

Police are appealing for witnesses and dash-cam footage following a serious collision involving a cyclist on the #A168 in Thornton-le-Street, Thirsk.


Update 6pm Tuesday 3 October 2017

The vehicle involved in the collison was a silver Nissan Micra and not a van. A van was travelling behind the Micra but it was not involved in the collision.


It happened at around 9.15am on Tuesday 3 October 2017 and involved a female cyclist in her 50s and a van.

The cyclist was taken to James Cook hospital where she currently remains in a critical condition.

The female driver of the van was uninjured.

Officers are appealing to anyone who was in Thornton-le-Street this morning and witnessed the collision to contact them.

In addition they would like to speak to anyone with dash-cam footage of the collision.

The road was closed while officers carried out an examination of the scene. It reopened at 12pm.
