Witness appeal following a recent assault in York

North Yorkshire Police is appealing for witnesses and information about an assault that occurred in the ALDI car park at Monks Cross, York.

The incident occurred between 5.15pm and 5.30pm hours on 27 September 2017 and it involved a white man of heavy build aged in his late 40s, and a woman aged in her 70s who are both from the York area.

The woman sustained a minor head injury and was taken by ambulance to York Hospital where she was discharged following treatment.

The man was arrested at the scene and later released under investigation while  enquiries continue.

We are appealing for information from anyone who witnessed the assault, and from anyone who recalls seeing either of the two people leading up to the incident.
