Appeal following assault on Lendal Bridge in York

North Yorkshire Police is appealing for witnesses and information about an assault that occurred on Lendal Bridge in York city centre.

The incident happened on Lendal Bridge in York near to the junction with Rougier Street at 5.20pm on Tuesday 13 June 2017 and involved a verbal altercation and physical assault between a male cyclist and a male pedestrian.

The male pedestrian sustained facial injuries in the assault, which were treated at  York District Hospital. He was later discharged following treatment.

We are conducting enquiries and are requesting the public’s assistance to help determine the full circumstances surrounding the incident.

In particular, we are appealing for information about the identity of the male cyclist who is described as a white, about 6 ft 1 tall, of slim build with short dark hair and short dark facial hair. He was wearing a black T-shirt and black trousers, and riding a dark framed road bike at the time of the incident.
