Appeal following Serious Road Traffic Collision on Sutton Bank

Police are appealing for witnesses following a serious road traffic collision on the A170 at Sutton Bank near Thirsk.

he collision occurred just before 5pm on Sunday 17thMay 2015, on the Helmsley side of Sutton Bank, and involved a red motorcycle which collided with two deer.

The rider of the motorcycle, a man in his fifties from Hebden Bridge, was taken to York district hospital with minor injuries.  The pillion passenger, a man in his seventies, also from Hebden Bridge, was airlifted to James Cook University Hospital with Serious Injuries, where he remains in a serious but stable condition.

The road was closed for several hours to allow collision investigators to carry out a full examination of the scene.
