Officers are appealing for help in identifying a man they would like to speak to in connection with the theft of an engagement ring worth over £6,000 from a jewellers in York.

Officers are appealing for help in identifying a man they would like to speak to in connection with the theft of an engagement ring worth over £6,000 from a jewellers in York.

A man entered the Goldsmiths jeweller on Spurriergate at around 4.30pm on Saturday, 15 December and asked to look at engagement rings before leaving the store with paying for one priced at £6750.00.

The man officers would like to speak to is described as being around 6ft in height and speaks with a Merseyside accent.

Anyone who recognises the man officers would like to speak to or who has any other information about this incident is urged to contact North Yorkshire Police on 101, selecting option 2 and asking for Harriet Shillito or by emailing harriet.shillito@northyorkshire.pnn.police.uk.
