Appeal for witnesses after woman in York punched

North Yorkshire Police is appealing for witnesses and information about an assault that occurred in York.

It happened on Wilberforce Avenue at approximately 4.45pm on Sunday 20 September 2020, and involved a 32-year-old woman from York who was punched whilst with her 15-year-old daughter.

The woman was left understandably shaken by the incident but escaped serious injury.

Three women aged 22, 23 and 25 have been questioned in relation to the matter, and released under investigation whilst enquiries continue.

We are requesting the public’s assistance to help establish the full circumstances surrounding the incident.

In particular, we are appealing for information about the assault and anybody who may have witnessed it.
