Appeal for information following a robbery in York

Police are appealing for witnesses and information following a robbery in York, which has left a 35 year old local man with a serious head injury.

The incident happened on Mill Street near to Piccadilly and George Street York between 6.40pm and 7pm yesterday evening, Friday 29 July 2016.

The victim was taken to Leeds General Infirmary, where he remains in a serious but stable condition.

Police investigating the incident have cordoned off an area on Mill Street and George Street. Officers remain on scene whilst enquiries continue.

Anyone who was in the area of Mill Street and George Street between 6.40pm and 7pm yesterday is asked to contact police as they may have information vital to the investigation.

In particular, anyone who saw a group of youths is urged to get in touch. Dial 101, press 1 and pass information to the force control room.

A 15 year old boy from York has been arrested in connection with the incident and remains in police custody.
