Appeal after motorcyclist injured near Saxton in the Tadcaster area

Police are appealing for witnesses after a motorcyclist was seriously injured in a collision on the B1217 near the Crooked Billet pub near Saxton between Towton and the A1.

It happened at around 5.50pm on Sunday 30 August 2015 and involved the motorcyclist who was riding a black Kawasaki motorbike, and a white Toyota Prius car.

The rider of the bike, a 38-year-old man from Barnsley, was airlifted to Leeds General Infirmary with serious injuries, however they are not believed to be life-threatening. He remains in hospital. The driver of the Prius was uninjured.

Police are appealing to anyone who was travelling along the B1217 between Towton and Lotherton Hall and either witnessed the collision, saw either of the vehicles before the crash, or recalls being overtaken by a group of motorcyclists travelling between the two locations.

Anyone with any information is asked to contact North Yorkshire Police on 101, select option 2 and ask for Traffic Sergeant Julian Pearson or Traffic Constable Mark Patterson.
