Arrests for attempted robbery after Knaresborough incident

Two people have been arrested after an incident in Knaresborough this evening.

Police were called at about 6.10pm with reports of suspicious activity near a cash machine at the HSBC bank on Knaresborough High Street.

Officers responded immediately, and a white BMW car made off from the scene, colliding with a police vehicle. The car was found abandoned soon after.

Following an extensive search of the area, two people were arrested by police on Harrogate Road, Knaresborough, at 7.20pm. A 24-year-old Ripon man was arrested on suspicion of attempted robbery, dangerous driving and failing to stop. A 21-year-old woman from Ripon was arrested on suspicion of attempted robbery. Both remain in custody at this time.
