Inside Claudia's house - evidence to support she left for work but hair straighteners missing
In Claudia's house, the bed had been made and there are what appear to be breakfast dishes in the kitchen sink.
Claudia’s electric tooth brush was also left on the kitchen draining board.
These details support the theory that she left for work on the morning of Thursday 19 March 2009.
Of particular interest to the investigation team was that Claudia’s GHD hair straighteners, model number 14.4.1B, were missing from her home.
Also, officers found an empty blonde hair dye box and rubber gloves.
Det Supt Malyn said: “From the review of all the evidence available, including the fact that Claudia’s bed was made and it appears that she had eaten breakfast and brushed her teeth, it is our belief that she had left for work on the morning of Thursday 19 March 2009.
“What is unusual is that Claudia’s GHD hair straighteners – model number 14.4.1B and purchased in May 2007 – were missing from her home.
“From our enquiries, it is doubtful that she would take them to work in her blue and grey Karrimor bag which has also never been found.
“I am appealing for any information to help locate the GHD hair straighteners as they could be crucial to the investigation. If anyone has seen them or possibly know where they are, please report it to the police without delay.”
It appears that Claudia used highlights in her naturally brown hair.
Det Supt Malyn added: “There is a possibility that Claudia may also have been colouring another person’s hair. If anyone knows about this or it was you, please come forward now.”
Update 17 April: In relation to Claudia’s hair straighteners, helpful information was passed to the investigation team which established that she may, on some occasions, have taken them to work. The GHD hair straighteners remain outstanding and the appeal to find them still stands.
