Collision in Bishopthorpe – appeal for witnesses

Police are appealing for witnesses following a collision in Bishopthorpe, York.

At about 11am on Tuesday 17 February a silver Ford Fiesta was in collision with a lamppost, in Drummond View, Bishopthorpe.

The driver of the Ford Fiesta, a 74-year-old local woman, was sadly pronounced dead at the scene.

As a result of the incident power was cut to homes in the area, due to damage to the lamppost. The road was closed for four hours while officers examined the scene and conducted enquiries.

Officers would like to speak to anyone who witnessed the collision. Anyone with information should contact North Yorkshire Police – dial 101, select option 2 and ask for Traffic Constable Lee Cobb, or Tadcaster Road Policing Group.
