North Yorkshire Police were called by the ambulance service at around 8.30am on the morning of Sunday 4 October 2015 to reports of a collision at a Wincanton distribution centre run on behalf of Sainsbury's in Sherburn in Elmet in the Selby area.

The collision involved a tractor unit – known as a shunter vehicle – and a male pedestrian, it happened in the loading area of the premises.

Sadly, the pedestrian, a man aged in his fifties from the Wakefield area who was employed by Wincanton, was pronounced deceased at the scene of the collision. His next of kin have been informed of his death.

Police have launched an investigation into the collision.

We are not yet in a position to release the name of the deceased but will do so when we are able.
