Five arrests following North Yorkshire barn fire

Police are appealing for witnesses after a barn fire near Bedale.

An off-duty police officer spotted the blaze in a cattle barn on Bedale Road, Aiskew, just before 6pm on Sunday 1 March 2015, and raised the alarm.

The fire service attended the scene along with North Yorkshire Police officers. Both agencies are conducting enquiries into the cause of the fire.

Five local teenagers have been arrested in connection with the incident – three girls aged 13, 14 and 15, and two boys aged 14. They have all been released on police bail to allow for further enquiries.

Officers are appealing to anyone who was in the area around the time of the incident and noticed anything suspicious, to get in touch.
