Information sought following fail to stop collision near Helmsley

North Yorkshire Police is appealing for witnesses and information about a minor collision that occurred on A170 between Helmsley and Sutton Bank.

It happened at 6.13pm on Tuesday 19 May 2015 and involved two vehicles

Both vehicles were travelling along the A170, from Sutton Bank, towards Helmsley. Both vehicles are described as black, Vauxhall Corsa’s. The lead vehicle was a 07 plated car, the second Corsa was an N plated car, the newer Corsa indicated to turn right at Tom Smiths Cross, the car slowed and was hit in the rear by the following Corsa. Both cars slowed, the older car then set off towards Helmsley at speed.

We are appealing for witnesses to the collision or anyone who recalls seeing the vehicle(s) prior to the collision, to get in touch as soon as possible to assist the investigation.

In particular, we are appealing for information about an N-registered black, Vauxhall Corsa with new damage to the front drivers side bumper. The driver was described as man, in his early 20s wearing a dark base ball cap and glasses.
