Kirby Misperton fatal collision – family statement and photograph of Lucy Pinder

The rear seat passenger who died in the single-vehicle collision near Kirby Misperton on Thursday 16 June 2016 at around 3.20pm, has been formally named as 19-year-old Lucy Pinder from Thornaby, Stockton-On-Tees.

Lucy’s family have issued the following statement: “We are devastated at our loss and still trying to come to terms with it as a family. We’d like time to grieve privately and thank all our friends and family for their support and kind thoughts.”

The driver of the blue Mercedes C220 saloon, a 27-year-old man from Thornaby,  has been released on police bail pending further enquiries after being arrested in connection with the collision. The other passengers in the car, a 22-year-old man and an 18-year-old woman, also from Thornaby, have also been released on bail.  Witnesses to the collision or anyone who recalls seeing the blue Mercedes C220 saloon car prior to the incident, are urged to contact North Yorkshire Police on 101, select option 2, and ask for the Major Collision Investigation Team.
