Man arrested on suspicion of arson in York – did you witness anything suspicious?

A man has been arrested on suspicion of arson following a fire at a residential property in York earlier today (Thursday 16 April).

North Yorkshire Police was alerted to the fire on Eboracum Way  at around 6.20am by North Yorkshire Fire & Rescue Service who were at the scene when officers arrived.

Four people were treated at the scene for smoke inhalation by paramedics. Two others received treatment from fire crews.

A 27 year-old man from Easingwold has since been arrested on suspicion of arson and remains in police custody for questioning.
