We’re appealing for information about a racially aggravated public order offence that occurred in the Hungate area of York.
It happened at approximately 11pm on Saturday 12 June 2025, on the Hungate Pedestrian Footbridge between Navigation Road towards Palmer Street.
The incident involved two men aged between 15 and 20 years shouting at the victim and being verbally abusive and using racist slurs towards him, then following him across the bridge to continue harassing him.
The incident lasted for a few minutes before another group of people intervened and the men made off.
One man is described as wearing a black hoodie with the hood up, and the second as wearing a light grey hoodie also with the hood up.
We’re particularly appealing for any witnesses to the incident to come forward to assist our investigation.
If you have any information that can help our investigation, you can call North Yorkshire Police on 101, contact us via our Website, or contact Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111 or via their website.
