“My particular situation is unusual as I returned to North Yorkshire Police which I always considered as my home force.”

Here Sergeant Matthew Dawes talks to us about why he decided to ‘transfer’ to North Yorkshire Police.

“My particular situation is unusual in that North Yorkshire Police is my first and third force which I have worked in.

“My first stint was 1996-2010 followed by a six-year stint with North East Counter Terrorism Unit  before returning to North Yorkshire Police which I always considered as my home force.

“During my time with North East Counter Terrorism Unit   I was proud to have represented a healthy and well thought of contingent of North Yorkshire Police officers who had served there.

“On my return to core policing in North Yorkshire Police after 10 years of covert roles I was pleased to find I was well looked after and supported by colleagues who helped me refresh my skills as a uniform officer.

“In November 2017 I was successful in the PC to Sergeant promotion boards having been given the opportunity to “act up” on a response band for a sustained period.

“I will now move to custody on promotion and look forward to taking part in the development available to me as a newly promoted Sergeant.”
