Police appeal for witnesses following fatal collision on Corban Lane, Shipton-by-Beningborough near York

Police are appealing for witnesses to a collision in which an 84-year old woman died to contact them.

The collision occurred at 12.35pm on Saturday 24 February 2018 and involved a white Toyota Aygo and a blue Volkswagen Tiguan.

The white Aygo, driven by an 89-year-old man from York with an 84-year-old woman passenger was travelling along Corban Lane from Wigginton towards Shipton-by-Beningborough and the Tiguan, driven by a 67-year-old man with a 65-year-old woman passenger and two children aged 6 and 7 years of age, was travelling in the opposite direction.

The 84-year-old female passenger in the Aygo was taken to York District Hospital by ambulance, where she later very sadly died. The 89-year-old male driver of the Aygo was also taken to York District Hospital, where he remains in a critical condition.

The occupants of the Tiguan sustained minor injuries.
