Police re-issue appeal for witnesses following death of elderly cyclist

Officers investigating a serious collision between a bicycle and a car in York have renewed their appeal for information, following the death of an elderly cyclist.

John Percy Williams, 80 years old from York, sadly lost his life on 10 November 2017.

Mr Williams was involved in the collision, which occurred on Green Dykes Lane on 10 October 2017,  when the bicycle he was riding is believed to have collided with the rear of a BMW 1 Series, which was stationary in traffic waiting for the traffic lights to change.

It happened on the approach to the traffic light junction with Hull Road and Lawrence Street, at around 7.04pm.

The scene was closed to traffic until 11.30pm while the collision investigation took place.
