Appeal following purse theft in Boroughbridge

Police investigating the theft of a purse in Boroughbridge have released CCTV footage of a man they would like to speak to.

 

A man approached an elderly victim on Horsefair, Boroughbridge and distracted her by asking for directions.

While doing this, he stole the victim’s purse from her handbag and walked off.  He then used the debit card to withdraw £700 cash.

Despite extensive enquiries following the incident – which happened at 10am on 11 September, 2017 – the suspect has not been identified.

 

Officers have now released CCTV of a man they would like to speak to in connection with the incident.
