Road Traffic Collision – A19 near Bagby, 3 miles south of Thirsk

North Yorkshire Police received reports this morning (Sunday 29 November) at 10am of a collision between two touring coaches on the A19 at Bagby, 3 miles south of Thirsk.

The coaches, both from County Durham, were carrying approximately 50 passengers at the time. Two passengers have suffered injuries. One passenger, who received minor injuries to the hand, has been treated at York Hospital. The other passenger received more serious abdominal injuries and is being treated at James Cook Hospital.

Additional coaches were dispatched and have transported those uninjured away from the scene.

The road is currently closed and is likely to remain closed for the next few hours, whilst investigation into the incident takes place. People are asked to avoid the area.

North Yorkshire Police are appealing for any witnesses to the collision to contact them on 101, select option 1 and speak to the Force Control Room.
