Sheep dies following incident in Great Ayton

North Yorkshire Police is appealing for witnesses and information after a dog was let off its lead in a field full of sheep at Suggetts Field, Great Ayton.

The incident occurred in the field directly opposite Great Ayton High Street, at about 3.30pm on Monday 25 January 2021.

It is believed three men were in the field with a Lurcher-type dog which was off its lead.

As a result of the attack a sheep was left with severe injuries, and the farmer was left with no alternative but to end its suffering.

We are requesting the public’s assistance to help establish the full circumstances surrounding the incident and to identify the three males involved.
