Suspect arrested and property recovered less than an hour after York post office burglary

A man has been arrested after a burglary at a York post office today.

An intruder alarm sounded at the shop in North Moor Road, Huntington, at 3.40am this morning. North Yorkshire Police officers responded immediately and carried out an area search.

At 4.15am, a 31-year-old man was found by police in a garden nearby. He was arrested on suspicion of burglary, and taken to custody, where he remains at this time.

A large amount of suspected stolen tobacco products were recovered in the garden.
