Three arrested and charged with multiple shop thefts

Officers in York have arrested and charged three people with a number of shop thefts.

At 8.40pm on Friday 21 April 2017 police were contacted to reports of the theft of meat from the Coop supermarket on East Parade in Heworth, York.

Local officers attended and carried out a search in the area. Three suspects were located nearby and were arrested on suspicion of shop theft.

Following further enquiries, the three suspects were also arrested on suspicion of further thefts of hundreds of pounds of meat and champagne from Marks and Spencer’s on Lawrence St, York.

A 34-year-old man from York has been charged with four shop thefts and one theft of a pedal cycle. A 35-year-old woman from York has been charged with two shop thefts and a 35-year-old man has also been charged with two shop thefts.

They are scheduled to appear at York Magistrates Court on Monday 8 May 2017.
