Urgent appeal following attempted robbery at Clifton Backies in York

North Yorkshire Police is appealing for witnesses and information about an attempted robbery that occurred on Clifton Backies Local Nature Reserve in York.

It happened on the footpath near Woodland Chase at around 10.35 am on Wednesday 25 February 2015 and involved a white male who brandished a stick and demanded a handbag from two 71 year old women from York.

We are conducting enquiries and are requesting the public’s assistance to help determine the full circumstances surrounding the incident.

In particular, we are appealing for information about the offender who is described as a white male, aged 16-18 years, of very slim build, wearing a purple hooded top and grey tracksuit bottoms.
