Witness appeal after York city centre assault

North Yorkshire Police is appealing for witnesses and information about an assault that occurred in York.

It happened on the junction of Davygate with New Street at 1am on Monday 31 August 2020 and involved a man approaching and assaulting another man by punching him

The victim has was left shaken and sustained bruising to the face

We are requesting the public’s assistance to help establish the full circumstances surrounding the incident.

In particular, we are appealing for information from a taxi driver who dropped off a number of men at this location, one of whom went onto to commit the offence
