Detective Constables operate from our three command centres in Harrogate, York and Scarborough and our HQ in Northallerton.
The majority of officers joining North Yorkshire Police as transferees start as Police Constables (working within our Response or Neighbourhood Policing Teams) or Detectives Constables.
We also run frequent promotion boards, giving you the opportunity to progress your career within our organisation.
Postings will be confirmed following a successful offer. While final decisions are based on organisational requirements, we will ask for your preferences and do our best to place you in a suitable posting and your preferred location.

The recruitment process for transferees typically includes:
If successful at the assessment stage, you will then be required to complete all necessary pre-employment checks and clearances before joining North Yorkshire Police.
Candidates who pass all stages of the recruitment process will be placed on a transferee holding list for up to 12 months. During this time, you may be considered for suitable vacancies across our force area.
When an appropriate vacancy becomes available, you will receive an unconditional offer of employment and be allocated the next available training start date.
While postings are determined based on organisational need, we will always consider your skills, experience, and home address when making placement decisions.
