Planning an event
This page provides you with information about planning an event in North Yorkshire. It tells you who you should notify to ensure those attending it stay safe and where you can get further advice.
North Yorkshire Police works in collaboration with other emergency services and local authorities as part of local Safety Advisory Groups (SAGs). Each district council has its own SAG, which acts as the focal point for event organisers, for specialist advice and guidance in relation to hosting an event.
To assist you in fulfilling your duty of care to those attending your event, you should inform your local SAG, so that your event plans can be reviewed and suitable advice can be offered.
Please follow the links at the bottom of this page for the SAG that covers the area where your event will take place.
North Yorkshire Police should be notified directly if your event falls into one of these categories:
- Military event in the public domain
- Protest or demonstration
- Remembrance Day parade or event
- Cycle time trial or official cycle race
- An event where you wish to pay for the services of the police
