Law on seatbelts

It is against the law to not wear a seat belt in the front and back of vehicles.

Drivers and passengers who fail to wear seatbelts in the front and back of vehicles are breaking the law and if we notice people on the road not using a seatbelt we can fine you up to £500.

According to THINK, a road safety campaign ran by the Department for Transport, in a crash you are twice as likely to die in a road accident if you do not wear a seatbelt. Visit the THINK webpage to view a crash simulation game.
