My North Yorkshire
Here’s the proof that North Yorkshire really is picture perfect!
We asked members of the public and staff to sum up the county in a single snap. And the winner will take pride of place in our new headquarters, Alverton Court.
The contest, called My North Yorkshire, received more than 50 entries, all of a very high quality.
But the judging panel chose a shot of Ellerton Moor near Reeth as the winner (below), saying it captured rural North Yorkshire and the beauty of our county.
Tina Swainston from near Masham took the winning image. She said: “I’m so pleased. Taken by surprise too.
“The photograph was taken one May afternoon as I was driving back from Reeth towards Leyburn, over Ellerton Moor.
“I saw the view in the rear view window and pulled over to get out and take some pictures. It’s one of my favourites.”
Second place went to NYP Segeant Paul Bailey for a summery scene near the showground in Harrogate (below left), while Andrew Hawkes’ stunning image of Knaresborough and the River Nidd (below right) took third place.
Tina’s photo will be installed in Alverton Court during the interior fit-out in the coming months.
